Very Late Christmas Present

This is something I’ve been making gradually for the last couple of weeks. It’s a late Christmas present for my sister-in-law.

Sorry about the bad photos, clearly I had been sniffing way too much glue immediately before taking them.

What we have here is a selection of candles presented in a hamper. The large pillar and the votives are scented with a US-style fragrance oil called “Juniper Breeze”. It’s a fresh, sweet scent that smells almost nothing at all like Juniper berries. It’s the first time I’ve used it and I can see myself using it a lot more in the future.

The 4 medium-sized candles are unscented chunk candles in opposing lilac/white colour schemes. I made them with a cold pour to try to get a frosted effect but I think I poured them at slightly too high a temperature to be a proper “cold pour”. They’re nice but don’t have quite the heavily frosted texture I was looking for.

I’m not very good at packaging things but I think my hamper is a fair effort for somebody with no natural flair for presentation. My sister-in-law was happy with it all so I count this as a successful project.
